Building insurance Spain

Building insurance for your home is very important as it can save you a lot of money if there has been an accident, its also very important to have a good amount insured for liability as it is very common that people have an accident which causes damage to your neighbours (Imagine you have a flat and theres a fire in your home and it also damages 2 of your other neighbours, that is a lot of money in repairs, thats why it is very important to have a good insurance).

Another thing to remember is that in Spain, its common to see that they insure building and contents together, it makes it easier to have everything on one policy.

You should also consider to deal with an agent or a broker that helps  with claims managment, changes to your needs on the policy and that looks after you, with this I suggest you stay away from banks as they won't help, and they are more expensive for less coverage.

If you live on a community some insurance companies won't cover water leak detection or fix if the pipe supplying your house runs from the meter under/ through communal areas to your property. Communities might have insurance for this themselves but ask questions of your president.
