We are non resident with Sabadell and we don't pay individually for anything to do with the bank account. All transactions are included in the one small monthly fee for non residents which I don't mind after comparing other Spanish banks' charges.

It's like paying for a bundle on a mobile phone each month, rather than paying each time it's used,.It works out cheaper in the long run in my opinion.

Hi Jan,

Was showing the breakdown of our previous charges with Sabadel i.e. that is we had 24 dd's per year and the yearly fee was E120 hence the E5 per dd. We never used the account for anything else we have now halved the charges by moving to Bankinter.

Sorry for any confusion.

I think the issue of charges in Spanish banking comes to the fore when you are a non resident. I use my account to pay around 24 direct debits per year, it has increased since electricity is now charged monthly. Paying E120 per year or E5 per direct debit tended to stick in my throat with Sabadel...

... even more so when we had issues.

If you are resident the accounts on offer from all banks are far superior with lower charges.

Its a case of everyone working out whats best for themselves as each branch of the same bank seems to offer differing levels of service.

I changed to Santander - an absolute disaster.  I am a non-resident but I am in the process of selling my property, so will not bank with them for much longer. I cannot get proper answers from them as to why they are charging me So much money,  in September 2017 I paid two lots of 9 euros (should be 9 per month).  When I queried this, I got the usual shrug of the shoulders, and an answer of "I don't know".

In addition they charge 0.65 cents for every debit and credit!

Rip off merchants. Stay clear off them.

The only thing wrong with Sabadell is the bank charges, don’t know if Bankinter have so many charges.

I take possession of my property in April.  What exactly does Sabiril charge?  I will just have direct debits for water, electricity, sums and maint. I am getting concerned thanks for any info

Is there a branch of Bankinter in Torrevieja ? how much do they charge to handle Direct debits, etc - I think I'm paying Sabadell 30euros per quarter  for the Account I currently have - which is 120e per annum for doing nothing!

Also does Bankinter have the same banking hours as the rest of the Monetary institutions in Spain?  I'd love a bank that just different!

Hi I bank with Sabadel it’s a Key Account I also. Pay €30 a quarter Do you pay also for Direct Debits because I am sure we are being charged we only have 2 monthly ones plus another 3/4 a year but we are charge €126a year for the primal age we are non residents.

Thinking of changing from Sabadell to Bankinter, has anyone had dealings with Bankinter or should I stay with Sabadell.

I think stick with Sabadell..... great reputation and they have been nothing but helpful with us

Dgh looks like we are very similar we pay the same has you plus €30 quarter.we was informed by a Spanish lady when we opened an account each bank is run differently like a Franchise. OnlyThe Sabadel bank you join will discuss your account not any othe branch.whereas any branch in UK will help you.also they will only answer questions you request we asked what will I pay for the account €30 per quarter no mention of paying for DD. Will you charge me for transferring money from UK no upto 50g a day. But for got to mention we will charge you€400 when we transfer your money to another Spanish bank.as a bank service good but you pay for it we will be looking else  where next month just feel we are being ripped off .

Ray to be fair to Sabadell I didn't pay for direct debits I paid E30 per quarter based on the number of direct debits it worked out at E5 per direct debit.

I recently got a bankers draft, the bank quoted E600 until I protested and got it reduced to E150.

Santander charge 0.40% for bank transfers, 0.75% for Bankers cheques, they charge 0.65€ per transaction, 3€ per month for debit card, no doubt there are other charges for non-residents!!

As soon as i have bought my house I will be moving from them
