Hi NicholaV

Whatever and wherever you decided, make sure it’s “future proof” and in the right area for you. Buying and selling in Spain is very expensive. 🤪🥂

We’re currently renting and in the process of buying. 😎💕💃🏻

Can you tell me where the pool is please?

Hi Nichola,

I would say rent before you buy !

We bought a place in Torrelamata three years ago having had several holidays around Torrevieja area. We are delighted with the area. Our apartment has great sea views, is less than 5 min walk to the beach, has supermarkets and restaurants and bars within a five minute walk and has a good mix of nationalities. We have a bus stop outside the complex with buses to Torrevieja and La Mata every fifteen minutes.

We walk to La Mata, along a beachfront boardwalk, most days and could not recommend the area more highly.  It’s about a 3 mile walk there and back and there are several cafe/restaurants along the way where we can stop for breakfast or just a cafe con Leche. We did not want to live in a huge expat community and prefer a bit of cultural diversity so Torrelamata was a perfect fit. Probably the most appealing factor was proximity to the beach and the beautiful boardwalk.

I hope this helps and wish you well in finding your place in the sun !

Hi Nichola,

I recommend you to go through the difficult process of choosing and buying a property in Spain with the help of a professional and dedicated real estate agency but especially friendly with clients. The agency is called Century 21 Mahersol Second Home and the agent who helped me and my wife find the house we wanted is called Matthieu Ramecourt. We chose Orihuela Costa, a residential property in vista Azul 12, an area with everything our family needs.

Hello,

Isn’t it wonderful to have reached the point that you are ready to retire and want to live in a different country with better weather. You aren’t the first and you won’t be the last. The areas you are considering is perfect for any of us. My husband retired almost 20 years ago and on a craz...

...y whim, we bought a great house in the Torreblanca / La Mata area. We can walk to the sea in about 12 minutes, there is a lovely precinct close by with a bank, restaurants, supermarket, dentist, optician, estate agent, florist and more. There are lots of lovely town houses in our area and La Mata too. Our beach us a long, sandy natural beach which runs the length of the coast.

One suggestion.  If you plan to sell your home in the UK,  Would you consider investing in a pied a Terre? Something small and suitable for yourselves to return to when Spain becomes unbearably hot in July and August. You may even feel the need to return for Christmas and family gatherings. If, after a while you felt that you didn’t need it, you could sell it and move on.

We don’t live in Spain and I couldn’t get rid of my home here , I need both.  I love both in different ways. Think hard and fast , this is a major change fir both if you. My husband!s cousin and wife moved permanently to Spain a few years ago as he has a chest problem. The climate doesn’t help completely as he suffers from hay fever and other things and gas had a few bad bouts with chest infections.  His wife misses home quite badly but he is very settled. Many Brits return home during the hot spell but they can’t as they don’t have anywhere to stay for 2 months.

Check out La Mata. Great bus service, coastal walks, restaurants, very close to Torrevieja and close to the airport too. Perfect area. I love it

We have an apartment in central Torrevieja but agree, La Mata sounds suitable for your requirements.  Alternatively, the outer suburbs of Torrevieja in Nueva Torrevieja  might suit you.

Good luck in your search.

Hi.

We bought a house in the punta prima/ los altos area.

We absolutely love it, we are close to everything, the beach takes 20 minutes to walk to, there are so many commercial centres dotted around all within walking distance.

We can walk to the market and the fabulous la zenia Boulevard which has all the lovely shops.

Torrevieja is walkable but there is a bus that runs there. There's also the hospital nearby too.

I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
