I'm due to retire in two years i am single I suffer from arthritis and need areas that are relatively flat.

I want plenty of activities and the beauty of the beach I need a good transport system.

So any ideas?

Arthritis and humidity do not get along very well and there is a lot of humidity here, year round... The most in Europe according to some sources...

Morocco or Nevada might be better but if you need Spain then Valencia city is your only choice...

Torrevieja city itself, from Punta Prima in the south to La Mata in the north and inland to El Chapperal/San Luis. Relatively flat compared to further south (Cabo Roig, La Zenia/Playa Flamenca/Villamartin). Only 1 hill on northside arround Torreblanca/Cabo Cevera.

Bus service within the city is excellent with 7 routes covering the whole city running around 35/40min frequency https://costazul.net/lineas-urbanas/

and bus station in city center (planning to move out to CV905) that has good links north and south.  https://costazul.net/lineas-interurbanas/    These sites are available as an app on your phone

If you opt for further south or further inland then the bus service is abysmal and taxis are not much better

The beachs are basically 1 beach that runs the whole way

Do you mean the town area of Alicante  or the general Costa Blanca area?

Any inland areas of Spain will do, but beach and dryness are hard to find. Also Seville except for the summer months

The city of Valencia is not the only place.   Try the Salt Lakes area just inland from Torrevieja town.   As far as public transport is concerned that is very often almost non-existent except on the coastal (tourist) areas by the N332 coastal road.   I live about 20 minutes' drive inland from Torrevieja, we have quite a nice bus station but not many buses.

Climate in Costa Blanca is generally recognised as good for those with Arthritis and breathing difficulties such as Asthma - cleaner air and warmer.  Many will suggest Torrevieja, which does have decent transport links and near beach. Guardarmar nearby coastal, prettier, a little quieter and prices creep up a little.

Alicante city has all the transport links you would expect of a bigger city, with beaches etc - but smaller expat type communities - though they are still about. Prices again, shoot up as heading towards the bigger cities.

Need to look at the overall budget/type of property you'd prefer as to give most accurate info.

Eileen, I have arthritis and we moved to Spain from Ireland for mainly the climate.  I can honestly say I have nowhere the level of pain since moving here.  We live inland in Daya Nueva where it is extremely flat and ideal for walking or cycling.  Im not sure as to whether you will get a car when you move over.  If you had, even a small run around, it would give you fantastic freedom as beaches are only 10 mins drive from here.  I personally would advise before you buy anywhere to rent for 3 months.....lots wish they did before making expensive mistakes.   Mary
