Bear in mind, if you are not already aware, that undertaking ANY work to your own property requires a permit/licence from the local Town Hall - Ajuntamiento. There will be a charge for making the application and then a charge for the permit, based on a value per square metre, costs vary depending upon the Ajuntamiento. If it is ‘serious’ work, ie even removing non-load bearing internal walls, then you will be required to present architect’s drawings etc.

If you are caught doing work without a licence, you may be heavily fined.

Absolutely Stephanie, on top of your previous post about heavy fines for both payer and payee for using someone who is not fully registered as self-employed, Autonomo, I believe.
If anyone wants cheap, they will get cheap work done, otherwise the going rate is generally less than UK. As for being easy to get good tradesmen, I would say definitely not. It is extremely easy to get "someone" but very difficult to get the "right one".
There have been posts on here recommending tradesmen but bad luck stories are also to be found.
We are reforming our property ourselves, with a local architect on board, and for anything we are not capable of doing ourselves, we always use his recommendations for trades and labour and always get detailed receipts and pay IVA. Everything is being done through the Ayuntamiento.
