Hola I am looking for a part time

position as a Teaching Assistant

within an international school. I have

all relevant qualifications and a

reference from my last employer Mr

Kinsella at St Monica's Catholic

Primary school, Bootle where I

worked for 14 years untill July 2018.

I would be grateful for any interest

or suggestions. Thankyou.

Need to be fluent in Spanish to work in the international schools I am afraid. A few QTS teachers have been on the forum and they usually get nowhere without Spanish

Thankyou for your post. I am in the process of learning Spanish so hopefully I'll be able to look into positions down the line. Any other positions relating to childcare also considered in the meantime. Gratefully Pat.

Learning Spanish is the key really. Once you get to a good conversational level contact the schools direct. Not sure if they have the same structure as the UK in terms of a QTS and TA per class, but it's worth exploring.

Strong Spanish language skills are not a requirement to teach English language. Try https://www.infojobs.net search for Profesor Ingles. Most jobs are in Alicante city and surrounding areas. There 10 vacancies with the same company teaching English to children. The adverts in English to test English skills.

Go ahead and make contact with the local International schools and the Spanish private schools. They are better equipped to detail what they require from teachers and assistants. There may be a benefit to the Spanish private schools to team a native English speaking assistant with the English language teacher.

English language skills are in demand in Spain the more affluent Spanish are willing to pay for private tuition for their children. I’m a member of La Cámara de Comercio (Alicante Chamber of Commerce). They continually run courses for business English. I know a few native English speakers who teach  business English to Spanish companies.

You only need enough Spanish language to do a job. When you go to say, Mercadona the girl only knows the shop words and product details in English. Ask about the weather ¿Qué?
