Hi what part of Spain are you thinking of moving to I  am in torreveija which if you are moving to  that area I have a  home there for the past 37 years   roger

We're not entirely sure yet. We like torrevieja, we've been a few times when we've stayed in San Miguel. But I suppose we'll go wherever the jobs are really. Tbh I feel a little disheartened after researching alot more today, it seems a nightmare now we've left the EU. I certainly don't want to leave here and be worse off 🥺

Although you can live a good life here for less any work will pay less than UK.If I was of working age and wanted a new life I’d be off to Australia,Canada or New Zealand.

We are planning to go back middle September for a week, we currently live in Staffordshire...always raining 🤣 do you still work Roger? €400 per month for self employed seems quite steep

A couple of websites that may be of help with rules/regulations are as follows:

Citizens Advice Bureau Spain for bureaucracy, and

N332 for anything to do with driving in Spain and is for English speaking people.   This site is run in conjunction with officers of the Guardia Civil and has an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code.

Sorry to add to your uncertainty but I would sooner be honest about how things can be. I doubt you will be living the life you are after if you are coming to Spain and having to work to survive. Working in Spain is not a route I would pursue, long hours for little pay, that is if you can secure a position that cannot be filled by an EU citizen which I doubt would happen.

The life you see on tv shows is not a true reflection of how things are, living a more relaxed life is not really viable if you need to work. If you have a sufficient amount of money and don’t need to work then you can have the more relaxed lifestyle that people are looking for.

I am happier here than I would be in the UK and would only go back if I had to but I don’t need to work to survive here.

Research thoroughly before making any decisions

Could you have someone to run your business in spring & autumn and take extended holidays in Spain?

Buying or renting a holiday home could be a stop gap until you're in a position to move to Spain without requiring employment. You could spend up to 3 months each visit during the best time for weather, Summers are too hot & winters can be colder than expected.

Have you thought about Portugal? Financial requirements are a lot lower, and I think visas are easier to get. Don't know about self employment, though. Brexit has messed things up for so many people. Apart from the very rich.
