Do you know, Ray, I acknowledge that you are a 'Legendary Helpful Member' but you must also be blessed with a very thick skin. Your comments upset people on here over and over, but still you do it. Maybe you dont intend to, maybe you dont realise how inflammatory a lot of your comments are, but  whenever I see comments asking for advice re work, renting property, etc, I just KNOW that you will be straight in there, pre-judging people and bringing a big black cloud over the forum.

My Mum always told me, if you cant say something nice.....

Why not just concentrate on living up to your 'helpful' title, you may find it more rewarding than getting comments like this one.

Why in London are Asians not called expats but immigrants yet British immigrants  in Spain are expats  is it a class system, Oh and on Ray's point of view  a lot of the Spanish  people see immigrant only urbanizations as not a nice place to live.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

And here we have Ray AGAIN putting insults into his comments while trying to pretend he is only trying to help as usual. Get off your high horse and just let people be. And if you don't agree with the word 'ex pat' then get off the 'predominantly ex pat community forum' that you keep logging into!

Ray I agree  with a lot of what you say,I have worked here for a Spanish company for many years  visiting clients homes of all nationalities and found that the community  with the least integration in to the Spanish way of life was the British, there is a minority  who come over  for extended  holidays  and expect everything to be like  the Uk and have no intention of intergrating these are also the majority  of the British working in the black  economy.

I must be in a different San Luis then. My closest neighbours  are Spanish x 2, German, Belgium x 3, English x3  and Irish. The local Swedish restaurant is full of Scandinavians as are the two local Petanque courts.

I've lived and worked in some real 'ghettos' in the east end of Glasgow. Yet to see anything resembling that out in Spain.

Folk need to be careful of the language they use at times and of the need to frighten folk or try make them feel bad on their choice of location or their reasons for seeking out comfort in a native language.

Live and let live and lets be a little nicer to one another.
