Hi can anyone advise me on the residency rules if my  partner is a resident of Spain andi have a civil partnership certificate,  I've been told so many different stories and am I  not entirely sure what  the criteria is to becoming a resident myself.

If it's been registered with a notary then it is legal and allows you to become a resident. One partner must be on the padron in the region you wish to become resident in. To actually register with a notary depends on the region with some saying you must prove you have lived together for 2 years, some for 1 years, others for 6 months and others with no living together rules at all.

Check with a notary to see if your certificate can be registered in Spain and then you should have no problems applying for residency.
