Non lucrative Visa

Has anyone on the forum gone down this route for residency in Spain.

We are retirees, who can meet the proof of income requirements. We do not intend to work in Spain!

Own property in spain. Currently in uk and because of covid have not been able to return to Spain since December 2019. We intend to take up residency and we are currently looking at our options.

Is there any advantage to going down the non lucrative visa route as opposed to residency route? I am aware that if you apply for NLV then the process is started in the uk.

Any thoughts appreciated

If you are British, the visa route is now THE route.

Residency is the process for citizens of EU countries.

I don't think anyone has had time to get far with the Visa application since the beginning of the year as the Spanish Embassies in UK  were closed for weeks due to the Covid virus  - & still might be, I havent looked for a while.

  It would be interesting for many people if anyone who has applied for a visa would update the forum on any progress they've made.

Let us know how you get on.

I agree with you. Probably not feasible to apply right now  given the uncertainty as to when we will be allowed back to Spain.

If anyone is going/has been through the process, it would be good to share their experience.

The exception being if you have an EU spouse then you would be eligible for an EU family reunification visa 😜
