Hi,

I am currently employed in the North Sea and work a 3 weeks on 4 weeks off rotation.

I have had a property in Spain for four years. I am looking to move there permanently next year with my wife.

We currently visit our property for approximately 3 weeks in 7 all year round.

I know that it should be quite simple to apply for a non lucrative visa but I would like to consider to continue working for another couple of years.

I understand that I would be liable to pay Spanish taxes etc.

Is it possible to apply for the visa whilst in this situation or should I wait until I retire and go for the NLV?

Thanks in advance

Wait until you retire is my advice.

Not sure what visa would even let you come to Spain and continue working but the tax on an offshore salary would be savage compared to what you'll be paying in UK.

I recently retired from the same industry BTW so know what salaries are.

It would be far less complicated if you waited for retirement. Another couple of years will soon pass by.

And who knows, by then there may just be an agreement to exchange a UK driving licence for a Spanish one!
