Hello good people.

In order to qualify for residency I have read a requirement of €600 per month income is required. I am good for that with my pensions. But how do I prove this? Would producing my bank statements suffice? Or does it have to be in writing from the pension providers? Also, my wife will not meet the income requirement. But my pension income would be enough to cover both of us. Can it work that way? Or do both parties have to have independent income? Thanks for any help.

You need to say what country you are from and what passport you are using.

Quite difficult to answer without knowing that.

Hi,

I see from your other posts that you are an Irish passport holder.

If you read below the link has all the information you need:

https://upsticks.es/residency-in-spain-for-irish-passport-holders-all-you-need-to-know/amp/

Also read here:

Good luck,

Steve

The requirement is a regular income of 600 euro per person or 7,000 deposited in a Spanish bank for 3 months or more for an EU citizen. So for two you would have to have an income of 1200 a month if you haven't got the savings but it doesn't need to be individual but a joint income. You would then need to prove you future income at 1200 euro a month jointly.

You also need an S1 form transferring your medical care across or you will require private medical insurance. The second person does not need an S1 but can be registered as a beneficiary of the first person if they have one. They can apply for an S1 in their own right once they are eligible.

As said in the 1st link what counts, as 'sufficient income' is not officially defined nor what constitures evidence of it so can vary significantly depending on multiple factors including but not limited to:

Who you actually see when making your application, what side of the bed he or she had got out of that morning, and even whether they care for the shirt you happen to be wearing!

Welcome to Spain!

That's a fair point. Each applcation is judged on merit and it does depend on which part of the country you are applying for.

A mixture of savings & income is usually accepted, as long as the person assessing your application is satisfied that you won't be a burden to the Spanish economy. We had 9,000 euro deposited in our Spanish bank for 3 months when we applied, along with bank statements showing 3 months of use in Spain.

Healthcare is sometimes the difficult one, especially if you have pre-existing conditions and are under the state retirement age. I paid around 1,000 euro for private healthcare with no pre-existing aliments, my partner, thankfully, had her S1.

Good luck.
