Anyone know how I apply for residency as an irish citizen would it be better to get my solicitor to do it instead
You can apply from Spain by simply registering as an EU foreign citizen residing in Spain. You make an appointment with the National Police in the province you are going to be living in. You put Torrevieja so Alicante province. You need to show a minimum income of 600 euro a month plus health cover, either state or private.
You then attend the appointment at the National Police station and Bob's your uncle. Very easy to do as a EU citizen.
You also have to pay the tax involved which is, I think, about 12 euro or so which you pay at a bank and take the receipt with you.You will be issued a green card there and then.

You need a form 790 code 012 (tasa 790 codigo 012) https://sede.policia.gob.es/Tasa790_012/
Complete this and take it to your bank. Either scan the code at an ATM or just hand it in at the counter.

It has to be a National Police station, not a local one nor Guardia Civil.
When you apply for the appointment online, it will give you the available police stations and the address you go to.
