We are thinking of buying a property in San Luis but have heard that people are being taxed a lot on their pensions if they are a resident in Spain. I have an NHS pension and my husband has private pensions. I tried to call the Spanish tax office for info but nobody spoke English. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Unless anyone else has any suggestions, you have two choices.

Read my posts in the tax forum and work out the potential tax yourself.

or

Send me a PM with details of your income and ages, and I'll tell you how much tax would have been due in 2017.

So that would be €11303.

Your personal allowance would be €8100.

Extra allowance for your income being related to former earnings €2000.

Earnings related allowance ~€3603.

Allowances exceed income so no tax due.

However, you still need to submit a tax return for your first year of tax residence. That gets you in the system, but if in future years no tax will be due, then you don't need to submit returns.
