Does anyone who is a non resident work from Spain part of the year? My work will agree to me working from Spain for 6 months but not sure about tax implications.

Hello

I am assuming you are British with a UK passport,

You would need to apply for a Visa from the Spanish Embassy in the UK to allow you to do that &, if granted you would have to apply for residency.   Since Brexit, any  90days in a rolling 180day period  is the maximum time you can stay in Spain as a visitor.

Cheers

Hi thank you for your reply. I would only be working from Spain for less than 90 days only when visiting my Spanish home.

Hello Karyn

Okay my reply was in response to you mentioning 6 months, if you only intend to be here for up to 90days  as a non resident  visitor , I don't see a problem with  you working at home  . If anyone has any more info, I'm sure they will post it.

Cheers

Karyn - in addition to Elin's answers...

If you stay within the 90 in any 180 rolling, then you should be liable to non-resident tax only, which is only a couple of hundred euros (dependent on etc etc).

Re working - that is kinda more complicated...your insurance rights and other contractual promises made to you 'may' be dependent upon you being in the UK. My last (and final) employer had some very strong opinions about it, despite having a Spanish branch, so to speak.

The odd thing is that 'work from anywhere', especially in these times...doesn't quite commute through.

What the heck, just do it....VPN in to the company network. Get a switch on / switch off internet provider. Have fun ;-)

Just hide the sunny background on the Microsoft Teams calls lol.

Best wishes,

Dave ('n J)
