Planning and Town Architect

Hi all, just a general query on rebuilding a property.

I've looked for clear information and haven't found the answers I'm looking for ... can an individual interact with the townhall architect directly re planning proposals and permissions or must all communication go through a client architect?

I know that on completion of building works an architect / engineer is necessary to issue certificates but I'm planning on managing the majority of the building work myself and feel getting to present directly may help with refinement of proposals.

To the best of my knowledge, you may certainly discuss outline works with the Town Hall architect. However, if this is major rebuilding works, you will be required to present professional drawings etc through an architect. They will need to inspect the works at certain stages, I believe, as they have to sign off on the work.

you need architect to draw up plans ,and submit to council, if passed you can carry out the work yourself, but will be signed off by same architect when complete
