Good morning,

My wife and I are looking at moving to Tarbena.

Could anyone please give us any information regarding the area.

We wondered if there were many other English people living there.

Also, could anyone please advise me on the best way to get from Alicante airport to Tarbena, as we don't have a car.

Any information on Tarbena people my like to share with us, we would be most grateful received.

Thanks, Kevin and Rebecca.

I don't live there but have visited the area for mountain walks. Tarbena is quite a remote location, even with a car with winding mountain roads.  Rural bus services sure to be practically non-existent.  Being closer to the coastal strip would be more practical.

You can glean quite a lot of information about any area using Google Maps with Street View and by looking at business listings.

I think the only means of transport from the airport would be a previously arranged taxi. Public transport will be virtually non existent.

And as a follow up, all remote rural areas seem very attractive and appealing. But you must be aware of the practicalities. We are relatively remote, 5km from nearest shop, although not quite as remote as Tarbena or Castell de Castells. Your own vehicle is essential. You must also consider medical services, we have a small Centro in the village, staffed by a peripatetic GP, who has three other villages to cope with. If you are really outside the village, power and water may be an issue, and be very careful of buying property for renovation.
