Thanks for this - it is also full to full but interestingly they did not charge me for a fuel deposit!I will definitely go back to DYS - the girl argued with me at the counter and said that i had always paid the tax since last year....which I have not. Looks like a wee scam!

...didn't take their insurance and that is how they make their money. Is this a normal thing now or do I need to go back to DYS to get it refunded?
Good luck in trying to get something out of DYS, I dropped them years ago after realising they are useless, once the hire contract is signed they wash their hands off everything, best case scenario you'll be bounced back to Goldcar/Record.(have the two merged? Hope not..)
Never heard of or been charged an EU tax before for rentals, if this is clearly stated as such on the invoice am sure the Spanish tax authority may be interested in getting a copy of it as there is no such tax amongst the many that are involved in a car rental.
Morale is look around carefully before renting from airport companies, what looks cheap rarely turns out to be so.

Excellent, family run company with no hidden extras. No 'extra insurance' when you pick the car up, nor high credit card deposits. No charges for fuel. Used them for many years and they have always gone above and beyond the call of duty.
