Good Morning All,

Just asking for  a bit of advice or if anyone has experienced taking cats over to Spain (Villamartin)

We are moving over next April with my partners two cats

Is it best to drive over with them or fly (assuming airline will accept them)

I know Spain has a bit of a problem with stray cats but these are house cats and wont be allowed to venture out

Has anybody taken cats over

Thanks in advance

Shane

I brought my cat over last year by plane. Didn't have any problems and he was fine when I collected him, I had been a nervous wreak but he seemed to have taken it all in his stride!

We used a specialist company - animal couriers.com - based in Sussex, although they will arrange collection from anywhere. Ours did not ‘fly’, they were driven down by the couriers and placed in a local reputable cattery known to the couriers, all arranged by them. They  were there until we actually had the keys to our property as we could not have kept them in ‘digs’ for three weeks!!!! It was worth it to us because it meant they were out of the way, taken care of and could come home to us when convenient. Ours do go outside, but we live out in the campo; one is fine but the other doesn’t react too well to the heat and also has developed a hideous skin allergy to the fleas out here, which now means anti-flea treatment every three weeks and antihistamine injections from the vet every four weeks; we also think she has been badly stung or bitten by insects at some point as she now flees at the sight of anything flying around.

We drove ours over.  Converted garden storage box , drilled holes for ventilation and fixed food bowl at one end and removable litter tray at other. Bed in middle  Oh and sprayed some feliway.  They were absolutely fine.  Ours are house cats and kept them in for first couple of weeks then moved litter tray just outside door and eventually ventured out.  They were absolutely fine.

Good luck with whatever way you get them here!!
