Bank charges

Having recently purchased an apartment in Villamartin, the solicitor set up a current account for me with the Sabadell bank to pay the direct debits for suma, community fees, electric, water etc.

I am being charged €30 per quarter for what they call interest/ commission !... is this standard practise or is there another bank I can change to that dont charge ?.. i always stay in the black and so I can only.assume that they charge the fees if you dont have a regular income being paid in ?

That amount is typical for a non-resident account.

You might be able to get a slight reduction if you get the non-resident certificate yourself.

It’s about right, that’s what we pay, you need to pay in a regular amount €600 plus a month I think to not have to pay charges. In most countries you have to pay for banking it’s just a quirk of the UK that you don’t.

Stay where you are no better deal out there for non residents.

BS provides a good service with Web and App access

We are with Sabadell and all was going fine until I got an email today saying that a d debit was not being paid as our account had been blocked? We only set it up in October and there is quite a good balance . cannot get any answers from the help centre and have now got to wait until Monday to call branch. Anyone else had this problem?

We are with sabadell but we’ve had recent problems with their app and setting up new payments and we are now locked out. After hours on the phone we found out:

Sabadell send security sms texts, thier sender is telephonica however EE in U.K. don’t have a contract meaning we now don’t receive the SMS to service out online banking. Hope this makes sense

Base euro interest rates are now -0.2%. Thus banks charge to run an account. Soon they'll have to pay you to borrow...!!!??? English banks still pay interest but that may not last. See my other post - go to a Caja rather than a Banco. If pensions are paid into the account fees are often zero.

What about the new bank Revolut, could this be used as an alternative to a Spanish bank?
