According to the Cajamar Website, you must be resident. As soon as you start the process of registration you are advised it is for Spanish residents.  This was what I was told also when I called into them earlier last year.

If you read my earlier reply and every time I have written on this subject you will have read you can not open an account online if non resident. You can only open in branch. Their software does not recognise non resident NIE,s. When we opened our account the bank agent did all the opening for us in first visit. However I believe it has changed to enrolling you as a member of the bank and given an ID no. You then apply online with this ID no and open an account. Some of the branches still do the whole job, many people have sent me pm's on how they fared and even this past week some have opened their account and all have been non residents so whoever told you in the bank that a non resident can't have an account is incorrect. Maybe with language differrence they were saying you couldn't open online which is correct, not that you can't have an account. I suggest you go in again and request you want to open an account. We and many non residents bank with them and so glad we do.

Regards

Pauline

An alternative to Wise is Revolut. I moved my banking from Sabadel to Revolut and saved 160 euros per year.

I know we chatted before on this, but I called into a branch in Torrevieja on the Highstreet (Ramon Galud) to be told that they had ceased offering this account to non-residents more on less a day earlier. This was with someone with good English  and happened earlier last year - if this has changed to allow non- residents, that's great.  I'm  just sharing my experience of trying to open it.  I won't add further to the conversation, but this is what happened to me.

Hii Declan

I, m truly sorry you were told this and somehow feel differrent branches must have differrent rules as recently another forum user on a differrent site thanked me by pm after setting up his account. It appears he was asked to open a linked account with 1037€ deposit which was his share in becoming a member of the bank then the wefferrent account was set up for him. The 1037€ remained his money but needed to stay in that savings account. When we opened ours no terms or conditions were applied but things seem to have changed. I hope you have found a better bank to bank with without dreaded fees.

Hi there having looked at this question on many previous posts and some ofg the great advice I like many on this forum moved from Sabadell to Wise. I was able to do this online and also set up my DDs. I am saving over 200 euros per year not a bad return for a little effort.

Best regards Binz ...

Hi. Thanks for the info. Could you or anyone else help with a few questions please.

We are thinking of opening a wise account but would like to know if this could be done in joint names. Also do you or anyone have a phone number to contact wise so as we can speak to them directly. Thanks. Paul
