Hi, when transferring money from a UK bank into BBVA we are being charged €21 for each transaction, anyone know how to avoid these charges?

Thanks

Hi Clive,

It could be due to the way your bank is sending the payment. If they are sending the payment by "express" the Spanish bank will charge a landing fee. We send our clients payments by "SEPA" which means the Spanish bank will not charge you a landing fee. Feel free to get in touch if you have any other questions regarding money transfers.

Thanks

You do not need to open a Transferwise borderless account, you can just use their online service to transfer funds. They use their German sister bank to make the transfer, so no 'Brexit' fee. The rate you get is the interbank rate of the day, their fees are highly competitive and transparent. I wouldn't use anyone else.

It is indeed, but the OP only asked about transferring cash from his UK bank to his Spanish bank. I thought I'd point out that you don't have to open a borderless account, in case it put him off.

I agree Jack. I've been using Transferwise for 7years and never had a problem. Money transferred in minutes at a nominal cost. Very popular and reliable.

TransferWise (soon to be known as Wise) agree with the other posters I wouldn’t use anyone else.
