I use Moneycorp and get great exchange rate, all done on line and no fees at any stage in UK or Spain.

Thank you all for your help and advice, just used TransferWise, good exchange rates, easy to do and money transferred in seconds... Just what was needed!

Can someone tell me the best bank to go with in Spain , at present we are with Caxia .

Apparently they have been taken over, we transfer money every month from our U.K. account to pay bills , but now according to Caxia they are charging €15 due to Brexit due to  us not been in the EU.. Today I received a letter saying the are charging €35 a quarter to operate my account ..

So need to change ASAP I was going to go with Santander

If you are not resident do you need/want a Spanish account? I dumped Caixa and now use Transferwise for everything.

I believe that you will find that Caixa has not been taken over but they have taken over Bankia.

I am non-resident. There is no need to have a Spanish account. We were told we did when we purchased but it is not true.

If you open a Transferwise account (now called Wise - Wise, Formerly TransferWise: Online Money Transfers | International Banking Features). It is very easy to do.

You can then open a 'borderless' Euro account with them. Again easy and free. This will then give you an account with a Belgian IBAN that you can give to your suppliers.

The currency transfer rates are amongst the best available.

You toughest job maybe closing the Caixa account which is a pain!
