We live in Playa Flamenca - feel free to ask questions

Cheers

Thank you Steve, we have just one important question really, and that is, what urbanisation, or area of Playa flamenca is the closest to a bus stop and walking distance to amenities.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Regards

Hi Roxy

Re buses - it depends a bit on where you want to go to....

There are two "local" bus services, both of which terminate at La Zenia Boulevard (which is a ten minute walk from where we live in PF). One of them goes to Torrevieja hospital (which is well outside of Torrevieja itself), the other goes to the health centre in Cabo Roig. Both routes take some time because they wind through all the back streets in the area. Both routes also have stops close to the N332 (the very busy coast road). Both services run every 90 minutes, but not late at night and not at weekends (except in summer).

There are also a number of "intercity" routes which essentially just run up and down the N332, but some of them do also come inland to the Boulevard. These buses can take you to the centre of Torrevieja, and to Alicante and Cartagena.

To make life easy I suggest you look for somewhere near the Boulevard, or the N332. However there's no substitute for actually trying it out - if you come here for a week or so and use the buses you will have a much better understanding.

There are also lots of amenities clustered around the N332/Boulevard.

Somebody mentioned La Mata (at the northern limit of Torrevieja) - a lovely place although I've never lived there. It has the benefit of an excellent local bus service into Torrevieja, as does Punta Prima, at the southern limit - where we lived for a number of years.

Cheers

Thank you Steve, that's all great advice, the bus service you have mentioned sounds perfect, because we wont have a car, we just dont want to be stranded in the middle of an urbanisation, so its very important for us to be close to a bus stop. We do plan to visit in the next few weeks,  and will definitely be using the buses

Thanks again

Regards

Roxy

I live in La Mata and it’s wonderful.

Beautiful beach which rarely gets completely crowded. Fairly quiet and laid back in streets, except in the height of summer. Plenty of nice restaurants/bars, a few with live entertainment. No touristy pubs. Weekly street market and a few small supermarkets. Mix of many nationalities, mainly Spanish. Free exercise and dance classes in social centre and on beach. Great bus service (free pass available for a one off 7€) into Torrevieja and connections onward.

I moved here in 2020 from Nueva Torrevieja, have no car and mostly live alone; I have no regrets at all and highly recommend this lovely small town.

PM if you have any specific questions.

Thank you  Annie,

All this advice is very helpful, La Mata is definitely on our list,  it does sound perfect!
