Hi thanks for all the suggestions from members regards recommending good places to eat. We went to Che in Villamartin had a fabulous steak meal with live music a great night. Had a fantastic Chinese meal at Nan king just outside Villamartin. Then the bad news. We have been to the Fairway many times in the past and have always found it very good. This time after seeing the picture outside of a steak that looked exactly like the the one I had at Che stating Argentinian steak (I think they must have gone over to Che to take the photo) when it arrived it was so disappointed it was small and was nothing like the picture outside. I informed the manager I had no intention of eating or paying for such a poor excuse for a steak he informed me I could pay more for a bigger steak I informed him the steak I had at Che was the same price as this so take it away. Then settled for a lamb shank very ordinary and I think the chef must have dropped the salt pot in far to salty. cheers. Rick
To be honest you should not decide upon your meal based on the generic pictures posted outside, you should choose it based on the menu, which in any professional and reputable establishment will detail the weight of your steak. Then you know exactly what you are going to get and what you are going to pay for it. As far as the chef dropping the salt pot on your food is concerned when you rejected your steak and decided on something else, I have heard of so called chefs doing worse than just adding some additional salt.

Go to Quisine ijust down from Villamartin and you will not be disappointed, must be booked in advance.
We could not get a table in Quisine tonight so went to the Fig and Olive, Playa Flamenca. Great meal, very good service and a very nice atmosphere, well worth a visit.
Aitch.

I did not base my decision on the picture outside the restaurant alone. This restaurant had the weight of the steaks as did Che both stated 8oz but the Fairway was well below that weight. Had steaks cooked rare at both restaurants so should not shrink much. As far as the Chef adding salt. My wife ordered the lamb shank and this arrived with my tiny steak. This was also very salty so was not added just for my benefit.

To your last point.. quite!
I am going to guess they threw salt in deliberately but - sorry to say - if that were the case, who is ever to know whether the chef's wrath ended there. I have heard some repeated and sadly reliable first hand accounts about Chinese/Asian and Indian restaurants in particular. Meanwhile, at a pub since renamed The Fitzwilliam Arms at Marholm, Cambs., I actually watched a young chef/cook (white Brit, I am guessing) clear his nostrils and wipe the mucous on his 'whites' before picking a plate up from under the heat lamps. The dubious joys of swing doors with windows.
Was he dealing with a complaint also? Does it matter? I cancelled our meal order forthwith and told the manager exactly why I had done so. And so, to expect to be fed after, likely as not, incurring the wrath of the kitchen staff? I wouldn't.
As I see it, to accept another plate after complaining - and, by your account you appear to have complained quite vociferously, if not aggressively - is 'chancing your arm,' to put it mildly.
It is something I could never now do.
If I were to be as unhappy with a meal as you obviously were, they would be instructed to remove it promptly, irrespective of whether I was with a party of people or not; this would be as soon as possible after it having been served, which better makes the point.
It would obviously need to be barely touched and I would make it clear I would not be paying for that plate and exactly why. To be crystal clear, I would instruct them to take that from the bill and get absolute acknowledgement of that at the table.
I would politely refuse any alternative.
It happens fairly unusually I would suggest but I have suffered that scenario two or three times, I suppose.
I believe no matter how people choose to deal with a restaurant complaint, it is more important than it might at first appear to remain calm (and in your own way 'professional') while discreetly but firmly telling them the issue and why it is you will not be paying for it.
Finally, I almost NEVER go back, either if the food is revolting and/or if the attitude is defiant, obstructive or rude.
We're all different! We must play dilemmas in our own way.
This is simply my take. And why so.
Happy eating!

Ref: Hens Teeth
Hope you get on OK there.
I have had two meals in total, about three years apart and, both in terms of service and food quality, it leaves a lot of the others at the rather dated Plaza to shame.
It was good. Hope you find it the same.
