We rent our property and part of the rental cost includes insurance but there's a catch. My wife has a mobility scooter and we want insurance for it. Our car is insured with Liberty and they will only give us insurance for her scooter if we take out a separate house content insurance with them an...

Because they can include the mobility scooter in the Family Civil Liability of the home insurance, but not as a standalone insurance.

I can't vouch for their service when it comes to a claim but I opted for schofields.ltd.uk as no restrictions on how many days occupied, accidental cover when let etc. not the cheapest but hoping they have less get-out clauses if it ever comes to having to mske a claim.
