Hi Denis and welcome to the forum.
Part of the process for re-registering your car onto Spanish plates includes the ITV, Spain's equivalent of the MOT. Once your car is re-registered here, it will have to undergo regular ITV tests, in place of the MOT, the frequency of which will depend on the age of your vehicle.
Assuming your vehicle is right-hand drive, it will need to have the headlights, and possibly foglight(s) adapted for driving on the left.
I would highly recommend that you contact a specialist, such as Leigh Blann, to obtain a quote for importing and re-registering your car - if this is done within a certain period, you may be able to mitigate the import duty as part of your "goods and chattels":

Once you have an idea of cost, and depending on the age and value of the car, you may decide that it would be more cost-effective to buy a car in Spain.
You may also want to consider the convenience of driving a RHD car when encountering toll booths and car park ticket machines in Spain, although not an issue if you always drive with a passenger 😉
Kind regards,
Kim
