Hi, I asked before but unfortunately didn’t get many recommendations, perhaps someone can help. I'm looking for a good solicitor who can advise or assist in obtaining a Residency certificate for a friend currently living in Spain. She is NON-EU, she has an NIE Number and had 3 years continuous Padron. She doesn’t work but has private medical insurance.

Can anyone recommend a solicitor please to help formalise her residency/ Arraigo

Regards

Andrew Nicholls

Hello Andy

I looked back at your previous post and thought you got some very helpful replies, advice  and suggestions. The company I would recommend has already been suggested to you a couple of times.

You never did say the nationality of the person but living here 3yrs as a non resident & being on the padron during that time are both things that need to be addressed as neither are permitted .

If you havent already contacted Uma on this link then I suggest you give her a call   https://www.getlegalinspain.com/

Cheers

I agree.

Firstly an NIE counts for nought as anyone can have one on demand.

Secondly living here for 3 years illegally, as evidenced by being on a padron which she had no right to have signed onto, will significantly complicate a residency application, potentially to the point of refusal.

It's worth repeating (for the nth time) that signing on a padron is a LEGAL DECLARATION that you permanently live in Spain meaning that it is only for GENUINE and LEGAL residents.

If not you sign on at your peril.

I have nothing whatsoever against Uma at Getlegal, in fact I used her myself in my early days in Spain, however in these circumstances I would suggest her interests would be best served by full blown immigration lawyer.

What nationality is she? If she is Latino/Americano she may be able to regulise her illegal status via arraigo.

Is she linked to a Spanish citizen or to a Spanish resident? She may be able to get arraigo via her relationship.

I think that you need to provide a little more information about your friend, as from the information given she is in Spain illegally.
