Hi

My electric is also high. It's around 40€ Per month with it turned off. I'm with iberdrol. I've just sent an email asking about it and asking if they estimated it.

Hi Slips, without seeing your bill it's not possible to give precise opinion on that  but one thing you may want to look into is to check if you are paying a Service charge on top of your normal Standing charge.

This Service Charge could be for additional items such as Insurance against Electrical Aplliance breakdown  plus Cover for faults developing on the fixed Wiring within your property , etc.

As Jim has suggested, check out his very helpful guides on the subject and you will then be armed with the  knowledge of how it all works , allowing  you to consult with your Electricity Providor.

Hope it all becomes sorted soon !

Hi folks, hope all getting better out there. Sorry to trouble you, just wanted to know if when not in property and not using electricity what kind of charges are you expected to pay? I have zero use since Dec, yet Iberadola have charged around 25-30 euros last four months since my last trip, is t...

...his like a rental/service charge or what? would be helpful for advice. Intend on returning soon, should be there now but hopefully will get out by summer's end. Stay sate all, Lyn Stoneman

hi there

I am with IBERDROLA and this months bill is 30 euros. I am on the stable plan with 5.75 kw.

I have no usage for the last 5 months as been in the UK , have been in contact with them and they advise this is the best tariff for my 2 bedroom house.

would like to here from anyone who has cheaper bills from other providers and how easy it would be to change providers and debits ?

kind regards

Doesn't seem excessive. My standing charges amount to around €50 pcm @8.8kW

We had ours yesterday for one month no usage 17.55€ when we were there for s week in February with hot air con and radiators on for a while in the evening it was 26€ for the month. We are on 3.5 level. Think that's right

That’s interesting I have a 2 bed 2 bathroom house and spend approx 5-6 weeks a year there.

My capacity is 5.75 kw ? Is this to much  ?
what is a suitable capacity for a small house no pool .

I can lower the capacity once a year at a cost of 10 euros with Iberdrola. Will save 5 euros a month !

Regards rob

You might be able to drop it but you need to think what devices you might use and which ones might be used at the same time. For instance, if you go much lower a combination of 2 or more of oven/kettle/hairdryer/electric heater might well trip the supply - unless you have low wattage devices. As you are rarely there though you could consider upping it for when you are there which might save money in the long run.
