Guys could use some advice about taxes and help with Residency. We have a person out of Valencia that's been handling our residency, self employed paperwork and taxes. It's been 2 years almost since we started. Have completed the self employed paperwork in October finally. Paid social Security taxes in October and December for some reason Novembers was not done but we paid the person prepairing their monthly fee. Residencey paperwork was filled on the 30th. Really upset now they say we owe Novembers plus penalties over 300.00. Feeling like we are getting the run around and being taken advantage of possibly. Any recommendations on what to do? This has cost us thousands now. Please no remarks that are sarcastic.

Sorry I can't offer any advice on your situation, it must be a terrible position for you to be in. If you have lost faith in the person sorting things out for you I'd be going in to ask them personally what is happening and what they are doing for you.

I assume you're using a gestoria or similar for all this. There is a monthly fee associated with this, anything from €50 upwards. You can change gestoria at anytime and ask the old one for any paperwork they have prepared for you, after all you are paying them for a service.

Are you saying your autonomo payments were not paid in November? Mine come directly out the bank, are you paying yours to a third party to pay on your behalf?

It only took us a week or two from start to finish to register as autonomo. If this is for residency application I was told you need to show at least 6 months of autonomo payments before they would accept it for a residency application.

You say the paperwork was filed on the 30th, but of which month?

Thanks for replying back. We had 2 payments taken from our bank on the 30th of December for now it appears for November and December. We paid October to her in her office and we have a receipt. But tonight a charge of 311.33 appeared in our bank. We are so confused and thats after speaking to our solicitor. That's over 600.00 in like a month all saying for the same thing. That's on top of the 70.00 we pay them monthly to handle this. As far as the residencey that was only filed the last possible day to do it in December after several months asking why it was not filed already. So upset on what to do.

You have my sympathies.

It is clear that you are trying to do the right thing.

On this forum, sarcastic comments are generally reserved for deliberate tax-evaders.

I would sue that person for what in Spain is called "administracion desleal" claiming adequate compansations and redress.
