Whilst walking my dog, near the Blue Lagoon Office, on his lead, I saw à woman approaching, with two dogs not on leads. They both defacated, and she did NOT pick it up, and dispose of it in one of the many bins provided. She was about 20 metres behind them, and they were running around free.
One of her dogs approached mine, and it unsettled him...with good reason. In April, we were attacked by a dog NOT ON A LEAD. In protecting my dog, who is a rescue, and very nervous with other dogs, because of the attack, I sustained severe bites to my right calf.
I called to the woman, and asked her if they were her dogs, and if so, PUT THEM ON THEIR LEADS IMMEDIATELY. It is the LAW.
Her attitude was very aggressive, and she reluctantly put a lead on the dog, and then also the other. I also pointed out they her dogs had fouled the Public area, and SHE IS OBLIGED TO PICK IT UP AND PUT IT IN THE BIN PROVIDED. She became even more rude, so I walked away. She then let her dogs back off their leads.
Now, she wouldn't have known the history of us being attacked by a free roaming dog...but SHE HAD NO NEED TO KNOW. IT IS THE LAW.
Myself to back up my reactions, and my comments to her...here is the evidence. I am 74 years old.
8+ hours waiting in emergencies for treatment, Lost nearly a litre of blood, 18 stitches, mostly internal to repair my badly torn calf muscle, and 7 months of pain and infection as a result.
No matter how well you think your dogs are trained, something can go seriously WRONG. YOU MUST KEEP YOUR DOGS 100% UNDER YOUR CONTROL...OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES..BOTH FINANCIAL, EMOTIONAL, AND TRAGIC IF THE WORST HAPPENS.
