When can you register for Spainish health care?

Hi.Can anyone give advice on when you can register for Spainish health care?I have private health cover at the moment 

and  within the next couple of weeks expect to get my Spanish residence .Any advice would be helpful.Thanks.

Hi

You have to have been a resident for 12 months, after that you can apply.

Yes I agree with yan...

You have to be a fully legal resident for a full year including being registered on the Padron. After that you can join the Convenio Especial which will give you access to full healthcare within the Spanish healthcare system. I think it will cost you around 60 euros per month if you are under 65 then around 160 euros thereafter. You may be able to apply for the S1 form from the UK when you reach retirement age.
