Hi everyone..Just bought a house near la finca golf algorfa. Have found loads of bats droppings at side of house. There is a vent hole near roofline which I think bats are roosting..How can I remove them and seal hole..Thanks Pete.

There is information on this forum re: bats ( search above), but be aware in Spain, all bat species are protected. In addition, more bats, less mossies. V

Hi Pete,

Bats are a protected species in Spain so you can't just get rid of them.

You should contact the Algorfa Ayuntamiento who will contact the correct people who can safely remove and rehome them for you.

Are you sure they are bat droppings, not house martins or some other bird?

Yes definitely bat droppings, did the crumble test and it did turn to powder as suggested by those in the know.

When we had them in our house in  Ireland I was told by Dublin Zoo to wait until dusk and watch them leaving and once they have all gone out you seal the hole. They said not to worry they will find a new home nearby. The only thing is have they baby bats/pups. When you go to seal the hole give a check. We counted 250 bats the evening they left our roof. Bat droppings are like rat droppings they don't look like bird droppings.

Be glad you have bats. They eat unwanted insect.

My and my cats love them flying around at night.

For their droppings make a shelves they can drop on.

Good luck with them.
