Is it my imagination or is the General cost of living going up ,food, water ,electric. And I had to pay 1.37 e per litre for petrol .

A simple example is veg broccoli mercandona  had it at 2 e a kilo last week at Tesco on 1.12p per kilo.

I have worked it out that I am better off in Uk as tax allowance is better and lower and I won't pay any at all there compared to the 3000 plus here .

I know I won't get the sunshine as everybody keeps telling me

Any other comments

Probably your imagination, €1,37 for a litre of petrol isn't expensive. Today's price in UK ranges from £1.26-£1.31,  and how much broccoli do you eat. Probably best to stay in the UK.

I have made no comment about your Spanish friends, but they probably don't have a choice, you do. The cost of living goes up everywhere, we just have to live with it. I just made a comment, not looking for a discussion.

Hello Pacoboy, The uk it is a farce when it comes petrol, today passed petrol station on the way to Canterbury their un leaded and diesel has rising 4th time in 4 months have gone up, price today is showing £1.45 per ltr up 5p from last week and diesel £1.42 per ltr so anyone complaining about cost of Petrol or Diesel in Spain should count themselves lucky. The British Gov collects 65 to 70% the number of people here are asking why we need such high VAT (20%) it should be reduced to 10% to 12.                                                                                                                                                                As far as shopping here is concerned at this time supermarkets fighting it out such as Aldi, Tesco, Sainsburys, ASDA and Lidl especially now that Sainsburys let the cat among the pigeons as they say they are acquiring ASDA. As far as cauliflower and broccoli is concerned the major growers in Europe are PolandItalyFrance, and Spain, so the increase can only be down to the Farmers / Wholesalers and the shops etc, Although today I heard some idiot on the radio the price has gone up becaused by Brexit although I cannot see how that is, as we also grow cauliflower's and broccoli and the price for a whole cauliflower is 80p for a medium size, one to a dizzy £1 for a large one, Broccoli is about the same price as cauliflowers

117 for diesel at gas express Catral and broccoli from the market is cheap as chips!

I agree everything does slowly creep up but is that not life? Crude oil has gone up to its highest level in years worldwide so that has a knock on affect at the pumps....it wasn’t long ago I was paying less then a euro a liter !

Overall I would still put spain head and shoulders over the Uk for the climate, cost of living and realivtily low crime rates! Just think about it how much council/ poll tax did you pay per annum in UK compared to spain? How often was your bins emptied? I could go on!  Nothing very rarely goes down in value eh?

As other members have mentioned, petrol has gone up worldwide lately which would in turn make everything go up due to increased distribution costs etc. That said, remember that we are coming into the peak months now and all the shops put up their prices as to fleece all the tourists. Unfortunately everyone else gets fleeced as well. If you like your veg, may i suggest you order online or go to markets where prices are generally cheaper? I have often found (depending on what you buy) i can get double the weight of items for roughly the same price as the supermarket charges. It pays to shop around as there is a lot of competition here now.

As for water and electric....well, they have us over a barrel don't they.

agree with the fuel price its still a bit cheaper in Spain on  tank full I notice the difference.I shopin aldi and lidl in  Uk and Torrevieja and its much the same but were I benefit compared to the UK

menu del dia 9 -12 euros ,cigars a good saving, great coffee 1 - 1.30 euro .night out in a good chinese restaurant with house wine and beers and water 2 people 20 -30 euro ,in Liverpool I just paid £60 for a mediocre chinese meal

getting my jeep insured in spain for half what I pay in Liverpool, also vet fees are cheaper ,private dentists are cheaper

I could go on and on ,on way down in a week for a month then back to the uk for a month then spain till november still working on the full move I envy you all who have made the move , The UK is a great place it really is but my heart is in Spain and has been for many years
