Hi all

I am looking to move to Spain on my own (scary thought), but I simply cannot bear living in the UK anymore.  I have sent my CV to La Finca Golf Club looking for work but to be honest, I have no idea on how to go about moving to Spain permanently.  I own a property in the UK which I would rent out and use as income to rent a property.  However, I don't know if I need a working visa, if I will need to take a Spanish Driving test, what healthcare I am entitled to if any etc, so if there is anyone here that can guide me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.  I'm 48, so feel like I need to do something now before time runs away.

Many thanks and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes

Trina

Hi Trina,

Since Brexit anyone who wants to live permanently and work in Spain must acquire a work permit.

Firstly, all work that is available in Spain must be offered to an EU citizen first by law.

If you have exceptional qualities or skills you may be able to find employment if the employer has exhausted EU citizen market.

If you do secure a position then the prospective employer will need to apply for a work visa on your behalf from the Spanish consulate in the UK.

You can't just move to Spain and apply for work as you won't have the required paperwork to be living permanently in Spain.

You will need full private healthcare paid for a full year to accompany your visa application.

If you are successful with your visa  application you could move over to Spain and apply for residency. You will then need to take a driving test in Spanish.

If you are entitled to apply for an Irish or EU passport that would help and open up Spain to you.

If I can help with any other information please ask.

Steve

If you did secure a position then it would come with health care included.

It's only if you come on an NLV (no work permitted) that you would need private health insurance.

Don't mean to be harsh but unless you have something unique or exceptional to offer l would rate your chances of finding work in the golf sector as sub zero.

After Brexit-, the only country UK passport holders can move to to live and work without visas is Ireland. But - if you did go there, after 5 years you could qualify for an Irish passport which would then give you freedom of movement in the EU again. Or, you could look at a move to Portugal, as the financial requirements for living there are much lower than Spain's. Brexit has messed things up for so many people........

Good luck Tina with your move.we are not too far Behind you.Plenty of good advice here, the main one that I have seen is if you have or can apply for Irish passport then that eases the Transition .
