We all hate Ryanair but keep using them as sometimes they are the only option.

Not sure what the original question really meant. If I was buying a Ryanair ticket online from UK to Alicante I would use my Spanish bank card to avoid a currency exchange fee. Likewise using Jet2 I would pay with my UK bank card. Some don't have a UK bank account so using Jet2 or any other British (£sterling) carrier you would I assume incur a fee for paying in Euros.

Is this what you meant Lisa?

As your topic title refers to the best airline, then that all depends on what your personal criteria are. Do you want quality and space on board, or do you want the cheapest?

It also of course depends very much on where you would be flying from. For example, there's no point in saying BA are the best if they don't fly out of your nearest airport.

If, as with most people, your main criterion is price, then look at Skyscanner.net for an overview. If you are flexible on dates then set it to view a whole month.

Thanks for the reply 😁

I suppose what I really meant was cheapest flights. Flying out to Alicante is very cheap (the deals I mean) but flying back to UK seems really expensive ?

Thank you all for replying 😁... as for going back I have to for a while. I've purchased a little place in coveta fuma. To simplify my question ...... what is the best way to book flights to save pennies. I've noticed it's cheap enough to fly out to Alicante but very pricey to fly back.... just looking for people's fees back. 😁😁✈️

Hi Lisa, as per Jim’s advice, try Skyscanner and type in whole month for your approximate return dates. You will find that flights back to the UK vary significantly, depending on day and if there are any bank holidays about. We always use Skyscanner, invariably it’s a toss up between RyanAir and EasyJet, but you will need to tailor your flight request info to find the cheapest deals. From our experience, flying to Alicante is usually cheaper on Tue/Wed/Thurs and flights back are the same, if you are flexible enough to take early morning flights, these are generally cheaper but then you have the added problem of getting to the airport at an unGodly hour!

Just play about with Skyscanner, you will eventually find a deal that you are happy with

I fly out and back Gatwick/Alicante most months and fly with either Easyjet or BA depending on who is cheapest.  Norwegian was also cheapest to fly back once.  I always use Skyscanner to find the cheapest flights for the dates I want and book directly with the airline. Kyak is another website to consider.  Flight prices vary with demand, dates and destinations . There are no hard and fast guarantees of what/ when is cheapest.  The earlier you book is generally the cheapest.
