Morning all

I have a small scaffold company based in the docklands area of London

As you are probably all aware the cost of living here now is astronomical and I’m

Basically working now to pay bills

I’m writing this message today to reach out to all building companies based in the Alicante Murcia and Benidorm areas to see if relocating my scaffolding company out to Spain would be beneficial

would it be something that would be used by the local building industry if I was to keep costs low

Any input would be greatly appreciated

And thanks for taking the time to read and reply to my message

Kind regards

Ben

Ever heard of Brexit, Ben? You can't just relocate yourself or your business to Spain anymore. You would need to apply for the appropriate visa. There is plenty of information on this site if you search.

Yes of course I heard of brexit

I was asking the question to see if there would be enough interest first before continuing down the right channels

It was only a question for positive feedback

Not sarcasm

You  will be operating  in a crowded  market  and  you will want  very  good  command  of Spanish  language   and capable  of reading  Spanish  or you  might find  yourself  swimming  with Shark 🦈,

Learn  the Basics  of Spanish language

No sarcasm intended, Ben, I was just pointing out to you that as well as doing market research, you have a very large administrative hurdle to overcome.

There is a particular visa to apply for if you intend to move here and start your own business. On this site you'll find links to detailed information on every kind of visa including the 'autonomo' (small business) one.

There are so many posts on this site every week from British people asking about jobs over here, starting up businesses, offering their particular skills, and most of them seem unaware of the almost insurmountable barriers that Brexit has placed on them.

Morning Mate, I would welcome an English style scaffold out here👍🏻 the Spainish typically use the quick form type and looks a lot inferior to ours but I guess you already know that! The pitfalls I see are that with Uk scaffold we use wooden scaffold boards and obviously the long hot summers and heat here would probably crucify the timber in next to know time as again the Europeans normally use metel staging? All that said I would rather have 4/5 board “ proper” scaffold all day long👍🏻 when we worked in south of France we actually had a wagon load of tube and boards sent down which we used to use! Good luck with you venture.👍🏻

You could actually do it no problems once you sort out a visa I have attached a photo of the list of requirements you would need to meet for a NLV (non lucrative visa). My friend Kelly deals with them and other expats needs daily. If you have 1 million spare you could just buy a house and get a golden visa

If you plan to work in Spain the Non Lucrative Visa (NLV) is the wrong route to follow. The NLV visa lets you reside in Spain but without carrying out any gainful (work or professional) activity, provided that the applicant has sufficient and guaranteed means to live on. This visa does not constitute a work permit.

These links describe the types of visas available together with the documents required and how to apply:

https://www.exteriores.gob.es/Embajadas/seul/en/ServiciosConsulares/Paginas/inicio.aspx

https://uk.blsspainvisa.com/

This link takes you to the UK Government website with information about moving to Spain:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-spain

Good luck.

I've been watching the Spanish Scaffolders for a week or so putting up scaffolding all around a 17 story residential building opposite my apartment. To me, they were very efficient and professional, and yes they are using wooden walk boards with wooden safety edging. They work quickly and efficiently. I would imagine a new start up company would have to be something pretty special......
