Hi my name is Alan I'm currently living in Bristol England, I am looking into living in Spain.Particularly Alicante city. I have been scouring the net for advice about obtaining a Tie card.

I believe that I've found the correct address for the " foreigners office" at Campo de Mirra. which documents exactly should I take?

I have read lots of accounts on the process, some of which are good and some troubling.

Has anyone applied recently? can you give me a blow by blow description of your experience please?

Dear Alan, unless I'm misunderstanding you, you appear to have got the wrong end of the stick. You are coming from the UK, which as you may be aware, due to the biggest con trick ever pulled on a nation state by a bunch of crooks and chancers, is no longer a member of the EU.

In order to live permanently in Spain, you now need a specific type of visa and you need to jump several other hurdles. PM me and I can tell you more.

Hi Alan and welcome to the forum!

You say that you're living in Bristol, so does that mean you're a UK citizen?  I ask on the off-chance that you may be Irish, as they're still in the EU.  If not, as HJ has advised, the route for obtaining residency in Spain since Brexit is the visa application process.  This has to be initiated at a Spanish Consulate in the UK, depending on which one is closest to your place of residence.  In your case, that would be Manchester or London.

Kind regards,

Kim

I was kinda hoping that I could just fill in an EX-23 form and make an appointment with the " foreigners office" in Alicante.:-(

Hi Alan,

Ah well, it was worth checking.  You're going to have to go the Spanish visa route:

http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consulados/LONDRES/en/Consulado/Pages/Visas.aspx

One of our members has also written a guide of their experience doing this, which you'll find in the "Spain Tips & Guides" section at the top of the page.

Any questions, just ask - several members are already pursuing visas and have some invaluable experience to share.

Kind regards,

Kim

That was the procedure pre-Brexit, but UK citizens became Third Country Nationals on 1 January 2021 and lost our right to Freedom of Movement.  Now you have to apply for a relevant Spanish residency visa - the different types are listed at the link I gave you.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Alan,

Lifestyle Services are nothing to do with the Spanish Consulate.  Be careful that they don't charge you a large fee for something you could do much more cheaply yourself.

Good luck!

Kind regards,

Kim
