Hi,

I'm becoming more and more confused about tourist licence applications in Alicante City. I was informed that if a property which had a tourist licence was sold the licence ended when the property was sold and wouldn't necessarily be renewed for the new owner. However, I am now seeing property for sale "with tourist licence"? We have an apartment in the city and have been told that we will not be able to get a licence even though we are ground floor and there are several apartments in close proximity which have licences. I've more or less resigned myself to the fact that we cannot obtain one but can anyone clarify the ever changing rules please

They are attached to the property not the owner. Mine is in the name of the previous owner.

You can arrange for it to be transferred into your own name.

As Portet said, the License belongs to the property.  If your apartment meets requirements, and your community have not voted against allowing Licenses, then the first stage is to obtain a certificate of compatibility from your Town Hall.  You need the certificate to apply for the license.

Yes, thanks Dave. Had so much trouble actually getting it as there was much confusion and delay over application during lockdown that name on it is not a priority for time being.
