Hi Michelle21, I was with Linea Direct, hopeless, it was Liberty Seguros in Montesinos that helped me, they rang the Conscorcio for me and I was not even their customer then, I am now.   Here is the information you need and is in English.  Telephone them and they will give you a claim number, and you are then on the right track.  They will need you to scan all sorts of documents and send them to them, it takes a while but you will get there and they will pay you back.  Good luck,

The Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros (the Insurance Compensation Consortium, or CCS) is a compulsory Government catastrophic risk insurance in Spain. It is an insurance tax charged on prescribed classes of insurance issued by private insurers, providing cover against a series of extraordinary perils and "political risks

Note: This Government scheme covers direct physical damage only. It is expected that a company ensures their commercial insurance policy covers them against any resulting Business Interruption losses if necessary.

Below is a link to The Consortio web page [in English] – you have to make the claim yourself, do not expect your insurance company to do it.  Mine said they did it, but the Consortio said they never received anything from my insurance company.

Michell, Liberty will telephone them for you and you will get a claim number BUT you have to do the rest yourself, the Consortio will do nothing until you contact them, believe me I tried that, you will have to contact them yourself.  I did most of it via email.   Good luck, but you must telephone them yourself, write down the claim number you get and quote that when you ring, you will then be assigned an assessor.  Until you ring with the claim number you will not get put in touch with an assessor.

Good luck,

Hey Jim. So that’s where you get the water for your whisky 🥃, reading your post has made me reach for the bottle too, neat Glenmorangie for me, I don’t like pool water 😊

Hello Jim,

Im looking for advice, during the storm my pool housing flooded and the pump was fully submerged. Its been drying out for over 3 days now and when i turn the pump on it works but only for approximately 15 minutes. This has been the situation yesterday and today.

I have been advised to just leave it for a further couple of days but im wondering why it operates for a short length of time? Is there a sensor in the pump or could it be it just hasn't fully dried out.

Good advice re leaving the pool level too high.

Regards Barry.

Hi Barry, you've been quick off the mark - I haven't had time to look in our pump cassette yet, but I know the pump's blown.

Off the top of my head, if yours runs OK for a while and then cuts out, it sounds like the heat sensor. Whether or not that's because it's not fully dry I don't know, but have a look at the following. Even if you only bridge across the sensor while you test it, it will at least find or eliminate that as the problem.

Cheers Jim,

My neighbour is experienced with electrics in a previous life as an aircon fitter, so i will show him the advice re the heat sensor and we will see if it works.

Cheers Barry.

Does this apply to car accident if the car that hits your car is not insured. Thank you.

Hi Barry with regard to your pump motor, it may still be damp inside. If you can remove it and either put it inside a warm oven and leave it for a few hours. This is how motors can be repaired in a workshop. Remove the end cowl first if it is plastic.

The motor may have a Thermistor inside the winding which is causing it to trip after a few minutes. Another option is to point a hot air gun or hairdryer at the windings.
