Good afternoon all, I have an inquiry, my water bill came out of my account for 350€, for November, December & January,  it have never been that high, normally around 40€/ 60€ depending on if we were in Spain or not, has the water rates gone up in price or is there a problem with my water.

Thanks

Rates haven't gone up but they are recouping the sewerage element that they discounted for a couple of years. However, that should be no more than a maximum of 27 euro in a quarter so your sudden rise seems unusual.

How much was the actual water charge as opposed to extras such as meter rental, sewerage, waste water etc. If that's where the increase you need to check you haven't got a leak such as a running tap, running toilet or whatever.

My water bill has been around 35 euro or so for the last couple of years and has now gone up to 54 euro due to the recoup of charges.

Make sure all your taps are turned off and then check your water meter, it should be stationary, if it is spinning then you have a leak.

Sorry I can’t help with the location of your meter but ask one of your neighbours they may be able to help.

When living in an aparttment block the President of the Community or the Administrator's office should be able to advise you.

This is a little like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, but do check the T&Cs on your house insurance, as many require water to be shut off when vacant for more than a short period. Hope you manage to get to the bottom of the issue
