Well, we moved to Altea from the UK last week. I am Dutch and my wife is German. We have a car with a UK licence plate and I have a UK license. Question is, how do I change my licence (my wife has German one!) and how do I get Spanish plates for our car? Just getting the NIE number for me was liking requesting an audition with the Pope! so I wonder what this will be like! Help! Thanks
Did you pass your test in Holland?
If so, and if there is any way to regain a Dutch licence, you will not have to do anything more.

Go to Guardia Civil, hand them your licence, they take it from there. Be aware you may lose some entitlement.

Thanks Darro. Not sure whether I can do this since I have no address in Holland but will investigate! Thanks

I do not think the address is an issue, as long as you have a European licence, swapping to Spanish from my UK licence was a click click job done affair.
I did have a permanent address here in Spain, it was the least bureaucratic thing I have ever experienced whilst living here.

Thanks Dave. I have Dutch passport but a UK licence. From what I can see so far, it is not that straightforward but if you have a link where I can do this online, that would be great. Thanks

I don't have a link, I literally walked into the Guardia Civil told them I wanted a Spanish licence. They took the licence giving me a 'Justificante' which basically says my licence is being held for change to Spanish. A couple of weeks later it arrived in the post office for collection.
Post Office sent me an 'Aviso' advising me to go to them and collect my new licence, and that was that. My passport is UK however, I think you will find that if you plan to live here in Spain, that after a certain time you must change it anyway?

When was this DaveK? Are you talking about a UK to Spanish licence as the OP is asking about?
