Hi we have just moved to Altea before Covid happened from Ireland. My partner is employed now in Spain and he is applying for residency.  Does he need a private health care policy or is the public service good enough and will he qualify for it. Thanks in advance.

If your partner is as you say "employed" the employer is required by law to sign him up into the Spanish public social security system (seguridad social) which includes both health care (also for you) and contributing into the public pension system.
