Hi am in process of purchasing at moment and have paid extra to get estate agents solicitors to do all utilities transfer.NIE for two of us .setting up bank accounts etc.

Well worth it as I found negotiating the various forms and different administration s a nightmare! Not through it yet still hard work but I couldn't have managed on own ..

Best of luck in your purchase 🙂

You may find that getting an appointment is the biggest problem. I tried for ages online last summer and I kept getting the message 'no appointments available' (in Spanish of course). As I was on a deadline, I ended up going through a Gestoríá, who, for a fee, managed to get me an appointment just 2 days later.

Obviously that says something, but for me it was worth the fee, as the NIE opens the door to other things.

As advised above, Getting a profesional Gestor or a Solicitor is the best way forward and it will cut out loads of hassle. All documents have to be in Spanish for it to be legal. Please don't expect to find things in English when signing legal paperwork.they won't be. You will need the NIE to get contracts for the Electricity, Water, Suma bills(council tax). Be careful with Bank accounts as the fees are high in Spain, there is no free banking as there is in the UK. Many have ditched their Spanish accounts in favour of a WISE account.  Good luck.
