I don't  know if this has already been posted but was in Carrafor today and saw two girls from Iberdrola and asked them about their smart solar.

Whilst talking she mentioned something about a 20% discount for pensioners for one year to help pensioners through the gas crisis. I hadn't heard about this and asked if it was general knowledge and she said just for people who ask, which I thought strange. My Spanish isn't good and their English wasn't perfect so maybe confusion. She said your existing contract continues during and after the 1 year discount.

I signed up, it's seems to be too good to be true. Anyone else heard about this discount.

Be careful.  If you google Iberdrola 20% discount you will find some sorry stories.

Hi Cisco54,

It depends whether the people you signed up with are Iberdrola Clientes, or third-party resellers.  If you've signed up with Iberdrola Clientes, that will appear on your bill.  When you get your next bill, compare the price per KW against your previous bill, and also check that there hasn't been an insurance policy charge added.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks Kimmy, If it sounds too good to be  true it probably will be.

I will certainly check my next bill, but I will be angry if they were resellers. They had a board adverting Iberdrola ' smart solar' which I was asking about but then they mentioned this 20% reduction for 1 year without a change in my contract.

I will ring Iberdrola tomor about this.

Tony

Update,I rang Iberdrola yesterday and explained the 20% conversation with the two Iberdrola girls in carrafour. It seems the girls had sold me a house insurance package whereby I would be charged 4 euros for 3 months and then 6 euros  thereafter but I would get a 20% reduction in my bills.

I was understandably flabbergasted that the girls didn't mention the insurance and that Iberdrola are presenting these Mickey mouse underhand and badly presented schemes. I'm losing respect for their integrity.

Needless to say I cancelled this scheme.

I have heard of a number of sorry stories concerning these girls in the big stores.  Best advice is to ignore them.

You need to keep your eyes peeled, they're always in Leroy Merlin Elche near the entrance and they tend to manifest themselves when you least expect it. I normally walk in pretending to be on the phone.
