There are Spanish lawyers advertising such a service, but they're only completing the application form for you, as you must present your application and required documentation in person at the Spanish Consulate in the UK (London, Manchester or Edinburgh).  Another member has recommended a company they have used:

www.upsticks.es

and you may have found it already, but there's a lot of useful informative in this guide by members who have gone through the procedure:

How to apply for a Non-Lucrative visa (NLV)

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks Kimmy. Seems very complicated.

can you get Spanish solicitors to do this?

Nothing is simple in Spain.  The Spanish invented red tape.

Once you move over don’t make plans to do more than one official/legal thing per day. Something that you expect to take  30 minutes will take you 3 hours and it that time the company has produced sheet after sheet after paper , that somehow all require signing. You also need to take the kitchen sink with you for appointments, because believe me the one bit of ID you don’t think you’ll need is the very one that they will ask for. Make sure you’re armed with photocopies as well.

But it’s  all worth it in the end!

Hi there

I hope you don’t mind me messaging you as I don’t have any helpful advice, but I’m very interested in your journey as I hope to do the same, albeit in about 8 years!!

Have you already bought? If not, are you renting first? What has made you decide on your chosen area? Are you going out on your own?

Hope to hear from you

Carol 😎

Hi Carol,

I do own in Los Montesinos. We were not looking in this area, but couldnt find what we wanted in other areas and stumbled across this place, which is lovely.

Unfortunately, I am on the verge of separating from my wife and thought a move to Spain would be the best for me. I have now had second thoughts about this and am considering buying a holiday home in the UK and going to Spain more often with friends.

Good luck with your journey.

Welcome to the forum.

Go on A place in the Sun website they have some excellent booklets you can download, about buying in Spain as well as living in Spain. They also will give a list of what you currently need to be able to apply for a visa.  As long as you meet the criteria I certainly wouldn’t worry too much about the legal side of moving at the moment. Rules and regulations change at a moments notice, so who knows the rules will be in 8 years time when you plan to move.

Renting or buying as in the U.K. can be down to personal preference or finances. But although you’re advised to rent first to get to know the area, you have  got plenty of time to have a good look around.

If it’s a permanent move, you need to look at areas and property differently.  A holiday home by the beach is a dream for many, but when it’s a permanent home, do you want  thousands of noisy holiday makers invading your personal space in July & August. So have a look around many different areas, but make sure you visit in the high season of July/August and the low season of Jan/Feb. Your chosen area might turn out to be too manic in summer and too quiet for you in winter.

If you are going to be reliant on public transport choose your areas carefully as some areas are just not served by buses at all.

We are all individuals, so all want different things in life. What you think is a dream home in a dream location, will be a living nightmare for others.

But finding you new home in the sun is only the beginning of an exciting journey.

Lynn

Another thing about the S1 forms is that they can be produced in the UK instead of the GHIC to get medical treatment.
