Hi Chan,
Murcia is a beautiful city. If you ask the taxi driver to take you to Plaza de Belluga, also known as Plaza de Glorieta, where the Catedral de Murcia is located, you can wander the streets of the old town, where there are lots of bars and restaurants, and individual shops. In the newer part, you'll find all the chain stores, as well as El Corte Inglés department stores - all within walking distance of the old town. At this time of year, go in the morning, or early evening, as some of the smaller shops close for a period in the afternoon - usually between 2pm and 5pm.
Alternatively, you could go to the shopping mall, Nueva Condomina, just off the A7 on the outskirts of Murcia - great for chain store shopping, but without the beauty and charm of the city centre. It's open all day and, of course, air-conditioned:

I can't recommend taxi services, as I"m not in your area, but taxi licences are issued by the Town Halls, so they should be listed on their website.
Kind regards,
Kim
