Hi,

Do you have the necessary visa to come and live in Benidorm permanently?

If you are a UK passport holder you will need some sort of visa, either non lucrative or a work visa.

If you have an EU or Irish passport then you can live in Benidorm as long as you sign on the foreigners register.

If you don't have a visa you can only visit 90 days in 180 days.

Perhaps you can expand on your circumstances.

In answer to your question, generally it's two, cats or dogs.

Depends where you are from which, virtually every day this week that this question has been asked, people do not give the information on where they are from.

Rules are different for non EU and EU.

If you are from UK it doesn't matter if you are a pensioner or not, you will need a visa before coming to Spain to apply for residency. The criteria has been posted many times this week alone but you cannot travel from UK without a visa allowing you to come here.

If you are a UK pensioner you must apply at a Spanish consulate in UK. If an EU citizen (including Ireland) you need to sign on a register to enable you to stay over 90 days.

Look on the Spain hints and tips section or read the many posts over the last week on this very subject.

This is the one you need to read first

How to apply for a Non-Lucrative visa (NLV)

Without a visa you will not be allowed to stay in Spain for more than 90 days in every 180.

Assuming you are a UK passport holder....

If you apply for a non lucrative visa from the Spanish consulate in the UK you will need to prove an income of 28,800 euros per annum plus full healthcare.

As a pensioner you could get your healthcare cover through the S1 healthcare form from the Overseas healthcare team at Newcastle.

Sadly that’s not how it works any more with regards to becoming a resident…….
