Sorry to report that because of the coronavirus Benidorm has been ordered to close all bars, restaurants, meeting events and anything that will attract crowds etc etc. from midnight tonight for 14 days.

Sorry for anyone though that has just arrived in Benidorm for their well deserved holidays or booked up for the near future

Benidorm has not done it - the regional government in Valencia has.

...

Hugh,

To be honest and these are my own feelings I think the lockdown will last a couple of months..at least.

15 days will not make a dent on it as there will be people from Madrid (who own holiday apartments here) will make their way here to Benidorm and increase the problem.

I'll try and update now and then.

No one has told the British there’s nothing on the news.

No I know it’s not fake news. I m trying to point out that there will be people from the uk arriving in Benidorm this weekend who won’t know and quiet honestly what’s the point of putting a lockdown in place when Spain is potentially allowing more people into the area that might have it or catch it whilst they are there spreading it even more. I know people won’t get paid and will loose money I’m one of them but if they are locking down then it should be done properly and uk holiday makers should be informed. I offered my guests due next weekend the opportunity to move dates but they still want to come because the news in the uk hasn’t mentioned Benidorm and the local area hasn’t been identified as having any cases just Barcelona and Madrid

We live in Catral and we've been ordered to lock down. Apart from Supermarkets to stock up(if there is anything left) Chemists and Petrol stations nobody should be travelling. All the other shops, bars, restaurants Banks on limited opening times, official offices etc are closed now.

Yes Angela,

Alicante City is effectively shut down.
Beaches, restaurants, bars and  schools, everything is closed.
No big gatherings of people.
Similar will take place everywhere in Spain.

There is supposed to be plenty of supplies to restock shelves in supermarkets.

Hopefully everyone stays safe

Regards

Maria
