Hello, we are going to apply for an NIE number in London (for several reasons) before we come to Spain. I know there are other ways but we want to apply in London.
We have completed the form and are ready to visit London. Can anyone tell me what documentation is neederd as "proof of requiring an NIE" ?
What have others used as acceptable proof? Do I and my wife need separate reasons for needing a number? Many thanks
If you require an NIE to purchase property then simply put property purchase as the reason.

None of that is true. The NIE has nothing to do with tax apart from it being used as your tax number later. You certainly do not need to complete a Modelo 720 for worldwide assets unless you become a full time resident. And the only tax you'd pay as a non resident is the imputed income tax which you can do online.
No idea where that lot came from.

Their is some very good advice from genuine, knowledgeable members in this thread and others previously.
How long is this loose cannon going to be allowed to discredit great advice by posting wildly inaccurate answers to members seeking help.
He is so wrong every time that it looks maliciously deliberate.

I have taken a winter lease on an apartment in Benidorm from November 1st until 30th May and anticipate spending most of my time in Bendidorm, although I will be returning to the UK every four weeks or so for a few days to deal with domestic issues and visit friends.
I arrived in Bendiorm to 'flat hunt' on 13th September this year and left on 20th Sept. I understand that even as an Irish citizen with an EU passport I cannot spend any longer than 90 days in a 180 day period without applying for the NIE. Have I got this correct? Does the NIE allow me to remain throught the duration of my stay if I desired? I am retired (65+) and not seeking work.
Secondly, can anyone recommend a company in spain that can arrange the NIE for me please? I did look at a company: MYNIE.co.uk but cannot locate an email address for them and although it says 'complete the contact form below', there is no form!
The consulate in London advised me to apply for a NIE if I needed one in Benidorm.
Finally, if the passport officers so not stamp my EU passport at the airport, choosing instead to place it down in some type of scanning device, how will they know that I am keeping within my 90 days.
